Help dating "Miss Renfrew" maxi coat....1970s? 1980s?

That fabric is saying much earlier to me, and I don't remember long evening coats being such an 80s thing. My first thought was 1960s. According to Wikipedia the Miss Renfrew line was introduced in the early 60s. It doesn't say when the line finished though. I'd be interested to see what others think.

Another vote for '60s! High and small armscyes, the fabric, the style and the label all look '60s to me.

I agree with 60s--the fabric, wide lapels on the collar, and general cut of the coat say "60s" to me, too. I think the latter part of the 60s--around 1968 would be my guess, give or take a year or two.
I really don't think of this as a maxi coat--rather, as Melanie put it, a "long evening coat." It's formal and possibly/probably had a matching dress under it. Maxi coats were like maxi dresses--more a long casual or daywear garment, although of course, you could wear a maxi coat as a casual evening coat and some, like the velveteen ones, were dressier than others.
