Help dating my vintage dress?

Hello

Yesterday Mum bought me this dress to add to my vintage clothing collection!
The label on it reads: Van Roth REG (with Rayon printed underneath) and has a lady wearing a vintage dress (please see pics).
It is a full length dress, with a fitted bodice, nipped in waist and has a full skirt with ruffle.
The bodice has shoulder straps with an organza type overlay (the ruffle is made from the same fabric),.
The top, back and sides of the bodice are beaded with many glass beads and the skirt is lined with a thick, quality type fabric.
It is made of Rayon.
I believe it may be from the 50's.
Any info on this dress, the era it was made, the Van Roth label etc, would be appreciated. :bisou:

Hi again
I'm not an expert, however I'm positive this dress is earlier than the 80's, even 70's.
The zipper is located at the back and I think it is nylon.
The fabric is thickish as is the lining. The fabric does have a 'textured' feel to it and even a 'weave' running through it.
Mum purchased 2 other items with this dress. We believe they all came from the same lady. 1 was a Thai silk maxi skirt by Jim Thompson (not sure who he is!) and another 'party' dress which I believe is from the 50's (I'd be happy to post a pic). I just added this because I thought it may give an idea of the era of this dress by the other clothes owned by this lady.
Thanks:)

Hmmm. That label does look older, but the design details are saying 70s/80s to me. Where is the zipper located, and is it metal or nylon? Interior seams pinked or serged?

I've had a lot of Van Roths - mostly dating from the '40s and '50s but google tells me that there are plenty of '70s as well. That's the same label as the ones I've seen - I think she's a lady in Dutch or some other national dress, rather than a vintage dress - she has an apron and a head dress (Van Roth sounds like it could be a Dutch name too).

Do you have a picture of the dress without the overlay, and one with the overlay by itself? It's a bit hard to see the shapes of the two pieces. Rayon generally indicates an earlier era and your gown could be '50s but I'm getting a later feel - perhaps early to mid '60s? Is the fabric quite thick, blue and green shot and with a bit of a slub? It looks like it might be a rayon shantung (or dupioni) which was very popular in the early-mid '60s. The organza looks very nylon or polyestery to me (it could of course still be rayon, it just looks very syntheticky).

We don't have any Van Roths in the label resource - perhaps if you can send in a clearer pic of the label, it can be added. I'm overdue for adding assorted labels too so I'll see if I can find any more Van Roths. The fact that we get so many in Australia suggests that it might be an English label. Does anyone know more about it?
