I have just got this gorgeous oriental dress but have no idea of it's history. It is a warm nude colour made from silk with popper fastenings and a metal 'Crown' zip done the side. The lining is a very delicate silk too and the hem is rolled. It has small pin marks on the back from where it hard darting on either side. Unfortunately there are no labels anywhere, but I guess if it was made in the Orient it probably wouldn't have had any.
Can anyone guess the age?

It's called a 'Cheong Sam', was probably made in Hong Kong, and dates from the mid-late 1950s would be my guess but they are hard to date because they don't change in style much other than length and material.

Exactly, you can still buy them brand new and they haven't changed much - the fabric can sometimes indicate age but it's hard to tell with yours. I would date it somewhere between '60s and '80s.

They often do have labels, indicating Made in China or Silk or Rayon, so I wonder if they were removed.

Thank you guys. It's very hard to get the sense of how it feels to touch in a photograph, it's a very soft and delicate silk which made me think it's older than the late 60's/70's. The true colour is very difficult to capture too but best matched in the first picture.
