help dating Queenland housecoat/robe

I love the plaid print on this cotton house coat. It has patch pockets. large cuffs on 3/4 sleeves, double breasted with with 1" red plastic like buttons, large portrait (I think that's the term) collar which starts at shoulder seam but does not extent to the back. Skirt has a generous sweep. I could not find any reference to the label - Queenland. From the details of the house coat I was thinking very early or late 40s.

Thanks for your help.

If you do a Google search for:

"Queenland" robe

then click on "News" at the top left of the Google screen, then scroll down and click on "Archives" on the left, the second hit should be a 1954 item from a Youngstown newspaper, and should be titled: "…Return Engagement! Our Mad-about Plaid Coachman Robe..." The image is of a plaid Queenland robe very much like yours.

Lynne,

Thank you!!!! Great information!!!

Just checked it out. What fun to read, and it looks like a perfect match. I also found another ad for the Coachman plaid robe from 1952 - same newspaper.

I ran an internet search but not a News - Archives search. I must keep that in mind for future use!

Thank you again for taking the time to pass this on to me.
