Help dating "Ribbon Knit"? hat

So, wondering if this is a 'ribbon knit'?
Would you call this a tam or beret?
Any sense of era?
No labels...

Hi,

While it is difficult to be sure as this was a home craft that was popular in the 1930s through the 1960s, I agree with Grandma that is is most likely 1950s to 1960s. If you can determine the fiber content of the ribbons that might be a clue. It looks like that "crispy" rayon-acetate blend ribbon that I have seen used for ribbon hats and ribbon crafts of that time period. I would call it a beret, although the center embellishment puts it in the tam category too.
