Black patent leather shoes. So, I know these shoes are post 1970, and I'm thinking 1980s, but because they're classically styled black shoes I'm not sure (and I am still bad at dating shoes).
They are really cute, and I think they are pretty solid 70s. If they were a bit "blockier" through toe and heel, I would have even said late 60s. I don't think they are 80s, at least they don't look like the 80s shoes I remember. Or maybe very, very early 80s, if they are 80s.
Thanks! It sounds like they are 70s, most likely early 70s. I'm glad I posted them here (as I said, I'm still bad at dating shoes). I'm hoping to get one of Jonathan's shoe books for a Christmas present!
Those pads on the bottom are anti-skid stick-on pads, and while I've never thought of it, they could have been used for dancing, as Mary Jane says. Some shoe soles are so slippery that you need those on them just to be able to walk without your feet flying out from under you! My mom used to have to put those on a lot of her shoes when she got older, to keep from slipping and falling.
