Help Dating Skirt and Fabulous Dress please!

Hello eveyone, I have this fabulous dress which has no labels and I'm having trouble dating it. It is raw silk. Would you call this a wiggle dress? I'm thinking 40's?
The second item is a taffeta skirt with a label from Catherine Carr. I'm thinking late 70's early 80's? Any ideas on dates? Thanks so much in advance!

Oh I love the Carr stuff with the floral 3-D appliques. It's so fun! I'm not certain on this one but I did find a shirt with a 1979 date once.

The first dress looks like 50s. I can't quite tell the length, but those 3/4-length kimono sleeves, and sheath shape along with that cool abstract print sure seem 50s. I really like the look of the wrap-effect bodice.

From your close up it looks like the skirt is moiré taffeta.

My first thought on the dress was 40's, especially with the length.

I think I'd go for early to mid 50s with the dress myself, but will wait to se what others say!

i'm feelin more 50's on your yummy dress, as well. :love008: i'd venture to say late 60's to 70's on the Carr, and it looks like moire to me, too

The top dress - with that shoulder and sleeves and armsceye shaping - 50s.
