Hello All....so, more tie confusion....this one is 4 inches by 49 inches. It's rayon I think. I have seen similar things listed as 'wide swing' ties and 'kipper' ties. The definition I found for kipper says they were '4 1/2 inches' to 5 inches wide....anyway any thoughts?

Also, the fabric itself has " A modern Design" screened on it....not sure what that is?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Lauren

I'm not sure on date, but I've heard that 'kipper' is a British expression for wide ties, and not so widely used outside the UK. Someone else may confirm or deny that. I particularly associate kipper ties with the 60s and 70s.

I wouldn't call this a kipper either, just a Bold Look/Swing era wide tie. (What are the exact measurements, btw? That can help pin down a tie as 40s or 50s, since they were getting longer in the 50s...)

It was common in Bold Look era rayon ties to "print" the label right into the fabric, on the reverse of one of the blades. Usually the "label" named the design, but sometimes just the company name, as you can see in the examples below!
