Hello☀️ I found this stunning blouse thrifting in the costume section of a shop. It looks like it might be a 20s/30s piece but I'm not sure whether it's true vintage or a repro piece made with older material. It has several holes, the plaid fabric seems to be wool since it's slightly itchy too. There are mother of pearl buttons and a Koh-i-noor snap button closure. Some of the raw edges on the inside are finished by hand, some are left as is and the hem is finished with a zigzag stitch. The cream colored collar appears fragile and the fabric dissolves slightly around the edges of the neckline. What do you think?

Thank you in advance!

Possible! It isn't even that small, approximately a Size M. Most pieces I found here in Germany are homemade up until the 50s/60s. There are rarely any labels until then:( Hard to tell if something's a project done later or a garment from the time without a zipper. I've seen the same snap buttons on other 30s/40s pieces though! But the style is more early 30s.

Could it have been cut off/recycled from an early 1920s dress?
The collar appears to be early, or possibly had been added to the piece.

Maybe! I just bought it off the rack with no info whatsoever. Never thought of it as a former dress... So interesting thank you! But it makes a lot of sense due to the zigzag stitch at the hem which is throwing me off. I agree with the collar!

I hadn't caught on to the zig zag hem - I agree, that would be a sign for later alterations. Zig zag stitching on sewing machines only came up in the 50s? I think... I know someone has mentioned this here beforel.

Thank you! Most likely 20s altered post 50s?
