clearly, I don't know! I included a picture of the seams inside as well- it seems handmade with a TALON (caps) side zip. It has small shoulder pads. I love it!

Very pretty. I see late 1930s. What I find interesting is that the color of the peach fabric and in particular the lace, look like lingerie fabrics. It very much has the look of the nightgown and robes of the time. I wonder if this was re- made from an earlier (lingerie) garment? Perhaps re-made in the early 1940s during wartime. Just pondering, not sure of course.

great- thanks as always! I am not going to attempt to launder this one- I'd be too scared :)

This style is hard to be certain about. It was around as a mature woman's look for a long time. Could be very late 30s to 1940 before the shoulder pads got really big and hem lines went up to below the knee,( I am assuming this is a tall mannequin) OR an older woman's dress after the war when the hems went back down and before shoulder pads finally died a slow death. But certainly not 1920s or early to mid 30s.

Based on the cut, material, shoulder pads, and use of a zipper this is most likely an early 40s piece. Also, I agree with the previous commenter on not washing. However, I wouldn't even dry clean it. Just spot clean any issue areas making sure to dry the area in contact with soft cotton on both sides (just a tip from my previous career in textile and costume conservation). Good luck with this pretty dress!
