Help dating this dress pls

Hello: I am new at this forum, it is so nice to be here. I love the VFG page and check the resource label very frequently.

Could you please help me dating this dress? It has no label so I think it is handmade. Fabric is silk with pannels of lace. I have seen a dress of similar style which one of the VFG members has for sale. It is dated in the 20's. May my dress have similar age?

Lovely dress. I think the experts are going to ask you for some shots of the interior and the seams in order to help date the dress. I can see why you think it could be '20's although I am getting a much later feeling from it because it seems to be more A-line than straight on your manni and the tie at the neck doesn't feel right to me. (I am not one of the experts on dating the '20's!)

Hello Lynn, thanks for your comments! I will take pics of the seams tomorrow morning with good natural light and post them. It is so difficult to take photos of black clothing!
You are right, the ties does not look very 20's.

Looks 60's or 70's to me. What kind of fastener does it have?

I agree that it looks more modern and would also like to know about the openings/fasteners. I'm also wondering about the ribbons, they look like they may be polyester so I'm thinking late '70s to early '80s. It looks like it may have had sleeves originally - can you tell if the arm holes are original?

Very cute dress, and I'm a very late 70's vote. The general shape looks like a 70's tent style, but the swingy pleated skirt and the secretary-style bow and tie lead me to late 70s.

It looks like an early 80s drop waist dress that has been shortened.

This looks like something very current, Maybe 4 or less years old with a retro look. That bow, the tiers and ruffles feels more like a "vintage look" item than a true vintage piece.
