Hi Everyone..reposting this..I cant figure out if this oriental jacket is vintage or a modern reproduction. The seams are both over locked and unfinished. No name tags or anything. TIA!
I can't tell either. Do you have any photos of the reverse side and the seams? The hem of the jacket sleeve and the front of the bodice is scalloped, which doesn't look "authentic" to me for Asian jackets - so am wondering if maybe it is Western and inspired by Chinese designs. That still doesn't help to date it so a close-up of the fabric and a view of the underside might help - or not!
The fabric looks like it could be from the 1970s to me, this is really a difficult one. I don't think it is any older than that. To me it really looks like a western item based on the cut of an Oriental jacket.
I agree - Western with an Asian influence. I'm not sure when the bonded lining first appeared - '60's? I think the jacket is early 1970's. Lots of Asian inspired fashions after Nixon's trip to China in 1972.
