Help dating this velvet dress, thanks!

Hi, I have this beautiful black velvet dress with ruffled bodice. There are no labels, it has a metal zip up the back and the matching velvet belt. While a part of me thinks it has a 1930s or 40s feel, my hunch is it is made later, like the 1960s. What do you think?

The velvet does not look like a 30s/40s velvet nor would it likely have a center back zipper, so I think your hunch for later is correct.
Hard to say exactly. Can you tell if it is commercially manufactured or home sewn?

Something about it says maybe later than 60s to me.

It is definitely hand sewn. And while the velvet is nice it isn't that super soft 1930s velvet. It was the metal zip (I know that can be from later time periods) and the ruffle that threw me!
