Help dating this vtg dress!

Hey everyone - I'm looking for some help in dating a dress I bought recently
Details:

*No tag, construction looks home made
*Metal zipper on back
*Belt loops
*Shoulder pads
*Cotton with white (lurex...I think?) collar and pockets
*Measurements: 40-30-42


The lady I purchased it from said it was probably 1950s, but the shoulder pads are making me think it might be a little older. It is much more 'boxy' looking on me than on the mannequin. What do you think?

Can you show the shoulder pads please? so we may determine if they are original and what era.

Seeing the shoulder pads will help, but I estimate the date to be about '51.
