Help dating to late 1940s or 1950s? Thanks!

I found this sweet skirt with matching black cotton velvet top. No labels nor tags. Top has a side zipper that zips down. Skirt has a side zipper, with hook & eye closure at waistband. The seams are pinked. Bodice is decorated with rhinestones and beads (sorry their detail is lost in my images).

I was wondering if there are any defining features that would help me to place it in the late 1940s or early, mid 1950s? Thanks for your help!

I vote 1950s.

'40s have a more structured silhouette than '50s, especially with shoulder pads. This set has rounded shoulders - it also has a notched neckline and cotton velvet, both of which were popular in the '50s. The length also looks '50s.

Thanks for the tips, Nicole. I had no idea that notched necklines and cotton velvets were popular in the 1950s.
I was kinda hoping it was a homemade "New Look" from the late 1940s.
