Help dating two lovely coats

I have quite a bit of vintage clothes and I've decided to try selling some of it. I need some help dating these lovely coats!

I think the black one is wool broadcloth(?) with a detachable bleached mink(?) collar. It has a National Recovery Board tag.

The red on is velvet(?) It's lining is rather iridescent reddish blue. It has no tags of any kind.

Both coats are in virtually perfect condition. Any pricing suggestions would also be much appreciated.

And for future reference, do y'all prefer thumbnail pics or full images? Thanks so much in advance!

They are both lovely, the red one especially so. I would say they are classic clutch coats of the mid 50s.

Agree with Hollis on dating, and yes--the detail on the back collar of the red one is smashing!

While we can't give pricing suggestions here, a good way to get a sense of market value is to search completed (ie sold) listings for coats similar to yours, on places like etsy and ebay.
