Help describe this necklace?

I am not a jewellery person (I just know what I like when I see it!) so I am about to inundate you all with tons of questions. I apologise in advance.. Also sorry as I keep making thumbnails when I want big pictures! first is this:

How do I describe? Lucite, yes? Has glitter in the swirly bead -special name for this?

Thanks!

It is hard to tell from such a small picture, but the small clear bead with the glitter is called a confetti bead....at least from what I can see that is what is looks like.

I think we are going to need a larger photo.

Oh ok that is better! Yup if all the crap it actually inside the bead the bead is smooth it is a confetti bead. I don't think those yellow ones are bakelite. With the picture enlarged it looks like you can see small air bubbles in the bead...what does is smell like?

The other ones are rhinesteone rosettes, the center being prong set, but I can not tell anything about the smaller surrounding ones.

The thingins in between the beads are called spacers.

Ooh, pretty! (Can see why you liked it!)

Yes, the round beads look to be confetti lucite, which I usually associate with the 50s/60s. How long is the necklace, and what kind of clasp does it have? those things will help with date, too...

Don't know what the yellowish beads are--lucite or another plastic, presumably? but that shape is a rondelle (or "roundel", if you prefer that spelling!)

These are definitely lucite or plastic? If they were glass the beads with glitter would be called blown glass with foil which were often venetian. Reason I am asking is that it seems unusual to have the rhinestone rondelles with lucite. Is this a screw barrel clasp?

So very helpful, thank you! :)

Definitely a plastic of some sort, very light. I smelt them but I have a cold so that's not really helping :BAGUSE:

Here's another few pictures - the rhinestone flower is the clasp. It's not very long, would sit on your collar bone. Sorry they aren't the best shots to see the length.

This is a close up of the clasp:

And of the confetti type bead:

Thanks again, I am making sure I remember all this advice and descriptive help for next time! :hiya:

If the rhinestone is the clasp then you do not have rhinestone rondelles which are essentially beads made of prong set rhinestones. You do have seed bead as spacers whether they are metal or glass they are still seeds.-Lorinda
