help describing type of sweater knit

does anyone know if this is knit, rather than crochet? any suggestions as to pattern name?

it is a wool / mohair blend, made in italy

What a pretty sweater! It looks like what is often referred to as drawnwork lace, and knit lace. The drawnwork pattern is reminiscent of those found on antique linen runners, table cloths, show towels, etc. I do not know the exact name for either of the patterns. Perhaps one of our knitters will come along and help.
