Skinny ribbon medals

It also has one tiny metal sewn on piece that says '72, which jives with the look of the jacket....I'm assuming the medals would be Vietnam. I've researched several sites and dug through image after images of those skinny ribbons but cant find any that match these. ANY help on what they mean, what type of military man wore this or any help would be awesome, thanks!

Chaplain maybe?
I had a government issue navy pea coat without fouled anchor buttons I couldn't date. Went to the Historical Memorabilia board on Ebay. Those guys (and girls) really know their stuff.

Ang, do you have a full-length shot of the jacket? I'm pretty sure it's not American, British or Canadian, either. Most likely German, Dutch, Swedish/Norwegian, which then means that it can't be Vietnam, as those countries weren't involved in that war. Awards don't have to be combat/war-related either, just so you know. Definitely not a chaplain's jacket, either.

I could get you more info with more pics!

I can get a full shot, but it was made in Philadelphia by Weintraub Brothers....checked their site and they don't give any visual timeline, sadly. It has the red/gold embroidered chevrons on the sleeves too. I think its American....I'll so a full shot in a bit. was going to email you about this to have Bill look too.

Those ribbons aren't US Army, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard. They might be ROTC, but is I sure don't see them.

US miliatary uniforms don't use sewn patches as collar insignia on dress unifroms. And I don't see that shoulder patch in my books either. Also, the angle of the bars is incorrect for US military.

It could be a military academy. It could be a jacket with added bits and bobs that are unrelated - I see that pretty often, especially if a uniform has been used for stage and 'dressed' by the crew.

But a full shot would help.

I'm with Sharon - take it to the historical memorabilia boards. When I was growing up we had an Army Navy store in town and you could buy tons of medals for next to nothing. My brother and I had boxes of those skinny ones - all colors and combinations. Of course they were all WWII.

Interesting! Well, it for sure is an American made jacket by a uniform supplier. Could be purchased at a thrift and someone bought all that stuff? The silver bars on the shoulders are pins and apparently that was all me, I just turned them the wrong way.

Hollis, I'm glad you weren't seeing the skinny ribbons on the sites that show them. I thought I was going crazy.

I didnt get a full shot today, my laptop was being difficult and I was fighting with it freezing up while working on the site and since I dont do military or menswear this is low on the priority list to figure out, but maybe Monday I can and ask on the eBay board.

Thanks guys!

There's one that might be Coast Guard or ROTC - the simple red and white with gold frame. But the reason I think thye have been added is that the upper right one and tho ne under it are the same, just reversed.

There's a lot of East German and Soviet Union ribbon bars out there these days. I wonder.
