Help identify a vintage childs? mink stole.

I do not know anything about fur. As I believe we no longer need to use it. There is no lable but I was given a used one when I was 2 or 3 about 1964. The one I want to identify is much older and in much better shape than the one I had/have in my hope chest. It is not as soft and silky as mine was. This one the hair is rougher. Mine clamped its tail with a clip that made the mouth open and then close on the tail. The one I am trying to identify has that also and it also has a what looks almost like a tassle but does not have the fringe on it. It has one of these on each end and they snap together to give it extra protection from coming undone. If anyone knows a site that actually has useful info on identifying it I would really appreciate it. The closest place for me to physically go to is four or so hours from me. It is in such perfect condition it looks like it was just bought new.

Hi Donna, and welcome to the forums - here you will find the VFG Fur resource, you could look through the fur types and see the description and images look like what you have.

If you post photos, we can help too. Most of the fur stoles with tails and mouths are foxes, very popular in the '30s and '40s.

Thank you very much. I will try the fur resources and post a few pictures of it. I thought they were mink because it is only a 2 pelt stole, maybe a child's because it is only 31 inches from the tip of the nose of the first one to the tip of the tail of the second one.

I am not sure where I should post these pics. I looked at the fur resources and am pretty sure this 2 pelt stole is mink but it could be fox. Each pelt is only 15 to 16 inches. From the fur resources to me it sounds like they may be wild mink. I am just not sure if they are dark enough. Anyway here's the pics. I hope some one can identify this stole. Thank in advance for your help.
