Help identify and date this vintage Jaegar garment

Hi I have this garment, possibly a swimsuit or some kind of athletic wear and I wondered if anyone out there had seen one before and could tell me anything about it, I bought it over 20 years ago when I was channeling Tank Girl but never got round to wearing it! It's a black wool all in one with a Jaegar label inside and a British Lion/flag embroidered on the front left leg.

Yes, I agree, very late 20's early 30s. You don't see them much without an overskirt. May have been called a bathing costume or bathing suit at this time.
 
I've read that sex-segregated bathing lasted longer in Europe than it did in the US, and that accounts for the less "modest" swim clothing of the 1920s. Another example is that in old photos of bathers taken in the 1910s and 20s, in Europe, the women are not as likely to be wearing stockings.
