Help Identifying 2 Furs: Blue Shadow Fox? Marten?

I have two fur stoles / wraps and am looking for confirmation on the type of fur.

The first I am pretty positive is fox fur as it's very soft, thick, fluffy and long. When separating the fur, there's a faint gray color that you barely see when wearing unless separating the fur. I found a few sites which made it look like Blue Shadow fox and others where it's more like white fox as the fur is the softest I've ever felt.

The second stole is light brown with darker brown strips. The under fur is very soft, however, the guard hairs seem sparse and definitely not stiff at all. Some of the guard hairs have darker tips and some do not. After looking at the fur resource, the only thing that sounded partially right was marten, but it sounds like marten has stiffer guard hairs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Brooke, Your first fur is arctic fox fur with brightener added. I actually think that gray at the base is dirt. I would just call it white arctic fox.

The second fur is unidentifiable to me because it has been dyed and many of the guardhair ends have worn or broken off. This makes it very difficult to identify without touching it. From what I can see it doesn't look like Marten. It sounds a bit like dyed Russian Squirrel from your description but the guardhairs are so worn that I can't tell for certain.

Thank you Caryn! I think for the 2nd one i'll just post as fur and mention it could possibly be dyed Russian Squirrel. I really appreciate all your help as i've come across some great furs recently, some of which I can identify, and your expertise and willingness to help educate is top notch!

You are most welcome and I think that's a great idea. I am happy to help anytime I can. Congrats on coming across some great furs. :)
