Help Identifying Fur Yianni

Hello, I'm a long time vintage coat collector and seller that is very new to the world of fur. I recently acquired several furs and I'm having trouble identifying a few of them. This one has a dense undercoat and long guard hairs. It has a stiffer, sturdier feel to it than other furs I've handled. This leads me to believe that it is un-sheared beaver. But there are depictions of an animal on the lining that is definitely not beaver, looks more like mink. Was it common to depict a different, more expensive animal on the lining? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Heather

Hi there, That's a very pretty coat. It is Finnish Raccoon.

In response to your other question those may be raccoons on the lining but if they are not it would not be unusual. The furrier may use the same type of lining for all of their coats or some of their coats.

Off topic. I love that framed artwork on your wall. :)
