Hi to everyone, I just joined the forum today and hope someone can help me.
I am on a mission to track down a wedding dress. My mother in law got married in it on August 19, 1961 and later this month we are celebrating Mom and Dads 60th anniversary. Unfortunately the whereabouts of her original wedding dress has remained a mystery for many years. It seemed to vanish - either got sold, was given away etc., without the consent of its owner. The person who was supposedly taking care of it for my mother in law has now passed away, so we are at a loss. My mother in law is 80 years old and has lamented over the loss of her dress for many years.
Would you be kind enough to take a quick look at the attached photos and tell me if you have ever come across the dress before. (note there were bows on the shoulder area of the scooped neckline and a matching bow just under the breast area) I am hoping to identify the designer/manufacturers label. This would not have come from a high end dress store back 60 years ago as the brides mom was not that well off. It would have been on the rack in a bridal store in Rhode Island. (House of Brides)
I have obtained the original newspaper coverage of their wedding day from library archives, and have taken a pic of the part which described the dress in the photographs attached here. Hope you can help me identify this dress as I would love to buy it for her.
