Help identifying vintage fur coat

I was gifted this beautiful fur coat but I only recently realized that it was much older than I anticipated. I think I'm able to narrow it down to either the thirties or forties as to when it was made, but does anyone else have insights? I'm admittedly new to vintage clothing and know very little about it. I'm not even entirely sure what kind of fur it is.

Hi there, I would date your coat to the 40s based on the shape of the shoulders, sleeves, and body of the coat. I can also see that the black lining has a quilted appearance and the button style closure that were both common in the 30s, and into the 40s pre-war time, so my best guess would be the earlier portion of the 40s. The first use of the Coat and Suit National Recovery label was in 1936, so it cannot be older than that. I'm unable to identify the fur type for certain based on the photos shown. If you can take a photos of the coat in even lighting, and some closer photos so we can see the fur better, we may be able to help you more.
