Help! Is this a robe? Kimono? What year?

this thing is super funky especially in color. My initial instincts tell me it's a robe but my 92 year old grandmother insists that it could be a bathing suit coverup. Also, What year do you think it's from? It doesn't have a tag and I'm not quite sure the actual fabric yet and the seams are all pinked

Someone made in style of men's kimono to be used for jacket or coverup... I would say cover-up. Could be 40's but the style could be later also....
