I purchased this coat today. Need help with date. I am thinking 40's by looking at your label resource? Also material? I know it is hard to tell in pictures, but it does not really seem like wool but it could be? You guys are so awesome all the time. I actually picked up several items and may ask questions over the next few months... I am just so excited. Also how to clean, is this safe to take to a dry cleaner? Do I need to find a specialist? So I guess my main questions are decade, fabric and how to clean. Thank you!!! For the record my model is Carolyn. She is a little oversized being 6'1".

YOU LUCKY GIRL! That's a real score!!

It looks like a 1950s cut, length and collar to me. You might even find the exact coat model in a vintage ad. Make sure to read our Lilli Ann history regarding the Fabric of France designation.

The way to clean the coat would be dry cleaning, and I believe it should be fine as long as the cleaners aren't really bad. If you don't have one you know to trust, I'd do a little research to find one near you. You can ask for recommendations in your area on Facebook, then the usual somewhat untrustworthy Yelp. Ask friends, that sort of thing.

I believe it is all wool, and possibly a duvetyn https://vintagefashionguild.org/fabric-resource/duvetyn-blanket-cloth

Again, congrats on a wonderful find!!

That's a fantastic find! I would put this coat in the earlier 50s based on it's style. And one small thing :). It looks like the coat is fitted above the waist and only flares out below - I think I see princess seams to fit the coat? In that case I would call it a princess coat. A swing coat would be wide and, as the name says, swinging freely from the shoulder.
