Help Me Date my Vintage Blonde Mink

Hello! I'm excited to be a new member. I love all things vintage, but am particularly enthralled with design and fashion from the Mid-Century, 40s and 30s. I look forward to being a part of a community that values and honors the timelessness, elegance, sometimes quirky, and, in my opinion, always inspiring style of past generations. We are keeping this aspect of history alive through our passion and discussion!

I was hoping to receive feedback from this group about a coat I just purchased; a vintage blonde mink, branded "Canada Majestic Mink." I have found very little about the brand online. The collar is smaller, so I'm guessing [maybe] 50s? I know real and faux fur is a delicate subject. I would only purchase vintage (real) and recycled (faux). I respect the diverse opinions, and hope this post will not cause discomfort. Thank you.

Hi Tiffany, welcome and thanks for sharing about your passion for vintage fashion :) . Canada Majestic Mink is mink that was provided by the Canadian Mink breeder's association. The first use of the label was in 1965.
Based on the features of the coat you've shown; the shape of the padded shoulders, sleeves, and body of the coat I would date this somewhere between the late 70s and early 80s..
Coincidentally, I just sold a Canada Majestic Mink fur coat yesterday that was made in 1973. The style was quite a bit different but same label.

Wow! Thank you so much for your response and all the good info. This makes sense to me because the shoulders are padded, but not quite padded enough to be mid/late 80s. It looks a little like coats I saw on television in the 70s as a child. I plan to restore this one. The one you sold is gorgeous, by the way!
