Help me date this child's bonnet, please.

Hi, Got this from an estate chock full of gorgeous baby and children's clothing -- mostly from the 30s, 40s and 50s. I don't normally buy kid's stuff, but I couldn't resist a few items, including this lovely bonnet. No labels.

I show it on a 9-year-old, a 7-year-old (tiny kid), and an adult mannequin.

Also, is there a proper name for this sort of fine, shimmery straw? It's so lovely.

I actually have no idea except it looks sort of late 1940's - early 1950's to me - but that is a "guess" and I could be totally wrong. Barbara or others will know!
