Help me date this dress?

I bought this dress that said it was from the 1960's. Though now that I'm seeing it, it does look more 70's I suppose? (It reekssss of smoke so I need to figure out how to wash it as well). I still have to make size adjustments too but I want to clean it first. If it's from the 90's I paid too much. ANYWAY LOL there's no main tag, just a couple tags inside the skirt. Googled the brand name and no luck. I also can't seem to find out when these wash symbols were made, except that most likely the 70s. Help is VERY much appreciated!! Thank you

Regretfully I have to agree - it is well and truly modern. Everything on that label points to fairly recent manufacture.

It is a depressing fact that items for sale online sell more quickly if described as '1950's' or '60's'. Slipping the cop-out word 'style' in after the date gets the seller off the hook most times, but that's not alway used. It's a shame. Your dress is certainly 'in the style of...' 1960's, or '1960's-inspired' and it looks great, but true 60's it isn't.

Can you file a 'not-as-described' claim? It is too late?

Thank you for responding. I asked for a partial refund (it was Etsy) and they claim to do refunds on the shop. Hoping they will offer a decent amount off.

And yeah it's frustrating that people list stuff as vintage when it's not. I hope they just truly didn't know.

I know. That's why the Vintage Fashion Guild exists, as we adhere to strict guidelines on how we describe our merchandise. The VFG provides buyers with a high degree of confidence that items are accurately described. Plus, if there is something about an item you are not sure about, you are surrounded by other like-minded souls who can help. Now brace yourself for a shamelessly blatant recruiting call - perhaps you might consider applying to join us as a full Member? lol! :)
