Wow...great dress Carolyn!

I'm thinking the first 1/2 of the 60s on this.....love it!

Whatever sixties it is... it's fantstic! I love Geoffrey Beene! Great coat and I'm certain made with exceptional care...

Carolyn,
I believe this is from the 67 collection. These exact buttons were used on a pink dress that has the same structural qualities lined in lime green... Around 1972 is when Beene started moving toward lining very few of his items and instead hongkong seaming in silk for less bulk and a bit more flow. Prior to that his items have heavy structuring in the inside... generally of course...
This is a stunning dress and I will be VERY interested when you list it :)

Thanks Kevin & Michelle -

Michelle - Yes, this has what I would consider to be pretty serious structural... construction (!) inside (underlining, interlining... ) - all hand sewn.

Kevin, you know this is a coatdress - not a coat (it zips up the back). I'd say I can't imagine wearing it inside, but given its fabulosity concessions could be made!

:)

That's soooo Beene. And it's very helpful to hear some thoughts on dating as his work can be very difficult to pin down.
