Of Dust and Wonder

I don't often come across garments that confuse me this much (there have definitely been a few), but this one has me stumped. Input and insight would be most welcome!

- Made of silk chiffon (no tag, but silk chiffon has that "feel". I did also compare it with another dress that is silk chiffon to be sure.
- Metal zipper in back. The quality of the zipper feels very mid-century to me, it has that firm feeling of earlier zippers.
- Very unique architectural detail at the bust, that I would normally associate with 70's - 90's garments. Combined with the above info, though, I'm at a loss. ?
- Not a single tag or label.
- Very well made, and the larger hem on the skirt is similar to the way many 40's - 60's silk chiffon dresses that I've found were hemmed. Dress measures 42" in length.
