I found this really cool polyester ladies top at grandmother's last week. It zips up the back. I decided to wash it b/c it had so many spots on it. Now the zipper in the back is all crazy and curled.

I put it in the dryer on low heat for a few minutes to get some of the wetness out and then hung it on a hanger! Then when I came back to it, the zipper had curled.

Can I iron the zipper back into place??? Need some help please.........

Arrrrrrgh! Zipper angst!!

I would probably try a slightly damp press cloth and iron to press the zipper. I wonder if there is a chance the fabric shrunk? Or, would it just settle into place when worn? I think the main thing is if there is puckering (i.e. zipper shrinking) along the zipper's stitching. In that case, the iron and gently stretching might help.

Good luck!

If the top is polyester, it wouldn't shrink, so it sounds like it was the zipper tape that shrank. You may be able to flatten it some with an iron, but it will probably always be wavy. You might want to just replace the zipper so it lies flat.

I posted last night and then I went around the house like a mad woman trying to think of ideals to weigh it down more with it still being damp.

In my search I found my new bag of clothes pins. I used the whole bag all around the waistline of the shirt with a little more in the back. I placed wades of bounty soft roll papertowels so the clothes pin wouldn't leave too much of indections.

Surprising enough the weight seem to have worked b/c there is only a little bit of curl at the start of the zipper at the middle of the back.

So when my mom comes over, she is going to help me. Ironing is not one of my favorite chores. Luckily mom likes to do it, so we make the perfect couple....hehehehe

Thanks for your help. Will post later today to tell you how the above suggestion on the iron and dampness works.........
