Help needed verifying fur on 1970s jacket

Hi!
I have a very cool 1970s zip-off jacket.
The fur collar I believe to be fox fur as it's super soft, long and fluffy.
The fur on the remainder of the jacket is also very soft and long, again making me think it's fox fur.
I'm hoping someone can confirm.
Thanks!
Brooke

Hi there, Pretty convertible jacket to stroller length coat. All of the fur is pieced Lynx fur. Check with your local wildlife management authority before offering to ship internationally as Lynx is now trade regulated.

Thanks Caryn! The collar is also lynx? Is it the coloring? I really thought the collar was fox.
Do you know if lynx can still be sold domestically? Thanks again!

You are most welcome. The collar is also Lynx. The species of lynx you have is predominantly darker on the back and lighter on the underside. Small pieces were used and crafted together to make your jacket so the coloration varies because each of the little pieces may have been from different areas of the lynx. It is a beautiful animal. The fur is soft and wonderful.

Yours looks like Canada lynx which inhabits many US states. You can see some images here;

Some Lynx is listed as being endangered. Canada lynx is listed as being threatened in the US which can be seen here;

You may see it listed on eBay but all threatened or endangered wildcat furs are prohibited from being listed on US eBay. Some other countries' eBay sites may allow wildcat species to be listed with CITES exemption however US eBay does not. Generally lynx listings are only removed after listings are reported several times.

Lynx is also prohibited from being listed on Etsy.

In regards to commercially trading elsewhere you can contact your local US Fish and Wildlife agency to find out if and where you could sell, possibly ship, and what you would need in order to be able to do so.

Thanks so much Caryn - this is really helpful information! I love the coat, so if i can't sell, i'll just keep her for the time being. Will definitely check out my local US Fish and Wildlife agency and see what they have to say.
