Help on a Hawaiian Silk? Dress.

I have this dress that was made for McInerny of Hawaii by Dynasty. First I believe it is silk from the burn test (although I am not the best at doing those) but does this look like Silk Slipper Satin? It is fluid and silky, kind of hard to handle. Second - I washed this and then steamed it but I cannot seem to get all of the wrinkles out.. does anyone have a tip or two to get them completely out? Thirdly, is this brocade? And yes, the dress is gold and absolutely covered in butterflies. Fourthly - is the belt on right or should there be folds in the belt? It is REALLY large - 4 inches wide.

A big thanks!!

Yes - WOW is the first word that came out of my mouth too. I am not an expert, but I use a misting bottle that I get from the dollar store. I would turn that inside out and lightly mist it and iron it at the lowest heat, gradually increasing the heat until it works on the wrinkles. That's just my unsophisticated technique. The belt looks fine like that. I bet it folds more when it's worn. Lovely.

I would have dry cleaner steam it out. They have steamers with a little mmore oomph for this sort of dress.

Dynasty dresses always use awesome fabrics... I think they are based out of Hong Kong..... I like this dress because the fabric design is well thought out..... Very very pretty.

Do you think that the Dry Cleaners would be willing just to steam it and not clean it? I have already cleaned it by hand and I don't really want Dry Cleaning fluid on it.

Wow--that's gorgeous! And, yes, I'd also call it a satin brocade, so much the better if it is silk satin.

The cleaner's should be willing to just hand steam it for you and not clean it. If not, you could call around to see if a bridal shop would steam it for a nominal charge. They have heavy-duty steamers to steam the gowns when they come in on a shipment.

I'd call it silk jacquard - brocade is a heavier fabric.

I concur on the professional steam clean - it would be worth it and they do get a good finish. I've never had much luck getting those wrinkles out so tend to dryclean these fabrics, as dreadful as the chemicals are.
