Hello! Just picked this up yesterday and sadly it's to small for me- I hate it when that happens! For $2.50 tho, it was a no-brainer. :)

Ok, help... please and thank you.
What would you call this style exactly? It's like a derby - top hat - bucket??
Age/Era?
What occasion perhaps?
How do I measure the actual size?

Miss Eileen Originals Black Straw Hat

Have you browsed the VFG Hat Resource? I find it very helpful when I am waffling on a term.

I would call it a bucket hat with a rolled brim. To me, a derby would have a rounder silhouette. I can see your reference to top hat though.

And I date it as 60s. Let's see what others think.

Hi! This can be a bucket hat but also a chimney hat. It's 1960s, early to mid approx. When you measure a hat you first measure the inner circumference, then the opening - side to side and top to bottom, the width of the brim and then the height of the hat from the brim to top. This was a stylish womens hat when women wore hats daily though that was beginning to taper. This would've been a great hat to wear with suits, imho.

Have not yet, Mags, but I will - thank you!

Hi Cin- thanks for that- and yes, I'd wear it now in a hot minute if it fit...
