Hello: I purchased this dress and would like to know if it is a true Halston and the age. The fabric looks like gauze. It has two pieces: one dress in a dark blue or black color with electric blue inside and a dress like a short caftan with the opposite color combination, electric blue outside and dark blue/black inside. The underdress has the Halston label but the overdress not. It has no content or any other label. Could you please tell me if this is a true Halston and the age? Thanks! Renée

Hello: I had checked the label resource and this is a 1970s label. Two things called my attention: first, the dress does not have any other tag or label (content, size), and second the Halston label is only placed in the underdress. Is this normal in Halston two-piece garments? Thanks! Renée

It looks right to me for a genuine Halston. I see hand finished touches and hand stitches. The style is right, the label looks right. What is it that makes you doubt it? Of course, I am not a Halston authority or collector, but I very much recall when he was a hot designer and this dress looks right for the time. circa later 1970s.

It looks good to me too - he loves diaphanous chiffons and crepes - typical fabrics for his evening wear. I suspect there was a belt that went with this that is missing - but it might not be.
