Hi I need your help on identifying this label. Does anyone know what era or what the green f.m. letters mean?
It's on a fabulous vintage black velvet Dior cocktail dress.

I wondered about Fortnum and Mason too, but decided against.

F&M don't actually sell clothes. Apart from food, which is what they are famous for, they only sell accessories, homewares and beauty products, but not dresses. Possibly they used to sell women's clothing, but I couldn't find any reference to it. I also don't think they've ever used that colour scheme for their branding, and tend to abbreviate to F&M, rather than f m. It's not impossible, that they used to sell dresses, and used to use red and green and f m as a logo, but without any evidence I don't think it's enough to conclude. There's nothing in their published history about it: https://www.fortnumandmason.com/information/our-history

I do agree it's probably a store label though, the question is which one?

Fortnum and Mason did indeed sell clothes in the past, from memory I'm pretty certain they sold CD London too, and I can't think of any other relevant stores whose label would say f.m.

Hope that helps :)
