Help w/ a label, please?

I'm pretty sure this dress is late 30s/early40s (the inside construction si fabulous, btw), but was wondering if anyone recognizes the tag? There's a niggling "that should mean something" floating around in the back of my head...

(sorry for the rough images- haven't done real shots, yet)

That is lovely! Afraid I don't know but certainly looks like a good label.. I would have maybe said more like 50s datewise though, with the dolman sleeves and back zipper? Although my advice is never definitive, lol!

That back treatment is gorgeous..

I posted this on the VCA board, right before I posted here, and the thought there is 50s, as well, so now I'm confused.

The dolman sleeves and illusion waist seem 50s, but the sleeves have teensy metal zipper at the wrists with ruching, and the back of the skirt has the pleats that I normally see on 40s stuff. The drape/etc feel early 40s to me for some reason. Sigh.

I think I might officially have the first dress which I feel compelled to show the inside construction- the entire midsection is either finished with French seams, or finished with twin rows of straight stitch, then an overcast whipstitch along the edge. I sent images to a Friend, who says there was a very early hand held "serger" made in the 30s, that finished edges with a diagonal overhand stitch. (I need to write down the name of it, next time we talk. LOL)

This dress is beginning to officially confuse me...

I've had a Rudolph dress before, and I couldn't find out anything about him either. I know what you mean about the construction details. I'd expect an early 40's dress to have substantial shoulder pads, so unless yours have been removed, I'll say late 40's.

Oh dear, sorry to add to your confusion. I had a dress with the shirring and it was dated pretty comprehensively to very late 40s. I see that fishtail bustle thing quite a lot in the 50s 'Norman Original' dresses (if anyone knows what I mean!

But I do understand when sometimes something feels 'older', and you can't shake it off!

I just flipped up the hem, and it does look like it was taken up.

*pardon me whilst I start to bawl*

I mean it's a hottie of a dress, but OMG it would be even more hottie-er, long. Sigh.

I've had it hanging in my stare-at-it-spot, and have decided it's more late 40s than anything.

The fit is just dreamy- [rough image]
