Help w/ Obermeyer sweater w/ older labels, marked 'S'

Hi,

So I did some research on Obermeyer labels. Some have an RN 37037, and most of the garments with this RN # are listed at the oldest at 70s. (Though the RN would put garments as far back as 1967-ish)

My sweater has an additional "S" label, woven and embroidered like the other labels but different colors. Anyways, just wondering if a company w/ an RN at some point, made garments without RNs, does this date them to pre-RN period.

Also wondering about wording of 'british crown colony of hong kong'. It seems to span a wide time period from 1950s up to 1972

As far as I know there's no compulsion to have RN numbers, they are just a convenient way of identifying the company. I believe that companies can use either RNs or give their company name.

In theory that wording could appear up to 1997, which is when Hong Kong ceased to be a British Crown Colony. But I think it's most common in the 50s and 60s.

Interesting! I assumed there was a law or something. But I guess company name = RN
