Help wanted in dating this Donegal Tweed Sports coat

Found this wonderful nubby hand woven Donegal Tweed Sports Coat. 3 patch pocket, and two interior breast pockets. Fully lined & lining is quilted under arms and around interior pockets. Coat is single breast 3 button closure with 3 buttons at each cuff. Buttons are leather wrapped. Back is
single vent. Front plackets (hope that's the right term) are slightly curved at bottom.

I've looked through my books to see when the 3 patch pocket style and this size of lapel was popular. It's hard to interpret the drawings in my books, but I've come up with possible 40s, late, 60s and 70s for dates.

Hoping someone can help to place a date on this jacket and share with me what features they used to determine the date.

Sorry my photos are not the best, seems when I reduce the size to post they lose their clarity.

Thanks, Alice

Alice, I would date your jacket as late '60s to early '70s, probably in the earlier part of that. Your jacket looks like it's been hand tailored, if you look in the inside chest pocket there may be a tailor's label with a name and date for you.

Thanks Nicole. I looked before creating this thread - found nothing. but always the optimist went back and looked again - nothing. I never thought about it being hand tailored, but it's so beautifully made, it wouldn't surprise me. Thanks much for your help!
