Help wanted in deciding the right early 50\'s style.

The more I look around for a outfit very late 40's to early 50's and see the different style within that era the more perplexed I get and indecision creeps in .
Whilst I accept that it is what come up on the market I cannot help to think should I go for:-
a.. dress with a full or straight skirt ?
b.. ensemble with a full or pencil skirt
C.. A blouse or jumper with circle skirt .
d.. or is their a style I have over looked.

Apart from availably another two criteria that for me is important is what would give me the most options for coordinating accessories, and also what would look and feel the most feminine to wear.

Any suggestions of a style or combinations of clothes would be really most appreciated. As I am getting lost iback in the 50's.

I think if I were to go for anything Paul it would definitely be a full skirted dress. Lots of opportunities for accessories, easy enough to come across so quite a bit of choice!

Thanks Harriet I bear that in mind, I just so not use to busy pattens and bad in general matching colours
I did look at your web site unfortunately nothing in the right size but did see some very nice dresses!

I'd do a suit, with either a super-slim pencil skirt, or a full New Lookish skirt.

To go with it, coordinating blouse, proper undergarments, hat, bag (with contents - hankie, compact, mad money!) and pumps, gloves and umbrella.

I think it all depends.

Not all women wore the same thing like today. If you are looking for something as an everyday outfit, I would go with what Lizzie is saying for the late 40s/early 50s. Or a day dress if its more "around the house".

If you are leaving the 40s behind and want to do early into mid 50s..i would do the full skirt if doing a dress/skirt and blouse combo.

Thanks for all the help
Just keep you up to date with my decision that I have made:- First I have decided to go with a dress 50's ( a very full skirt) with all the correct accessories including a umbrella which I had overlooked as Lizzie suggested ,then if I can find one a suite with pencil skirt all welll and good , Then as Chris says I could change into another outfit as ladies did then.
A tall order to find all of these but I am not in a rush due to present work commitments, I will keep you update with this big project in a few month time or you can always keep up with the progress from my blog.

There are solid color full skirts around, they don't all have to be novelty print. You can add crinolines below and a little sweater for a top.

The suits are more of a mature feminine, while the full skirts could be interpreted as more youthful.

Could not see myself with a poodle skirt, not what you're can call a spring chicken , A more mature lady I would settle for that, even a novelty print might be acceptable, a full skirt yes!.
