Hi Miss Dee, and welcome the forums! It's always nice to see a fellow Aussie here :)

I think you have an over coat from the late '60s to the early '70s - originally it would have had a cute pair of matching hot pants and be worn with knee high boots. I should add that it's not an overcoat, more a kind of jacket that is long and worn over the top of things!

Do you have any pics of the labels? Does it fasten all the way up the bodice or is it open? I love the print!

Hi Miss Dee, like Nicole said, it is great to see another Australian on the forums!
I love the coat- and yes it would have been worn with hotpants , I used to have a few items in a similar style in stock, they were very popular in Australia in the early 70's. Maybe you can find or make a pair of hotpants in a plain colour to go with the jacket?
cheers,
Gayle

No photo but its got a super faded made in Aussie!! David stock label. I googled his clothing line but unfortunately he's a hard man to find. As for fastening it does up in the bodice only with 5 snaps buttons. The split starts just underneath the base bra line. The split has a 1"inch gap. I love love love this coat, it's perfect for a qld summer night although I am completely confused by it also. In person the coat has a very strong Japanese feeling about the design yet the print screams Hawaiian? I'm new to vintage and I've been gladly wowed and daze every step. Thanks for sharing your vintage experience with a newbie!!
Dee.
