Help With 1930\'s/1940\'s Dress Info...

hello all,

i have a very neat sheer navy blue dress from either the 1930's or 1940's....no labels, excellent condition, "crown" metal zipper.

Would luv all suggestions on how to describe this dress (I will be posting it on ebay)...

here's some questions I have:

1. how can i tell if it is crepe, rayon, etc. (it does have a give/stretch to it) ?

2. I'd like to know the name of the type of buttons...the back of the button has a cylinder-piston-rod type thingy that is pushed and then it comes out of the button hole. I was also told they were made this way to be removed when the dress needed cleaning. (i'll post photos of the back/front of the button)

3. Not real sure what the embellishment is called on the bodice...

Thanks so much !!

I think they are stud buttons, like the ones men used in tuxedo shirts back then, I've had some sets of them w/ matching cufflinks. Pretty dress! Ang

i've attached a large photo of the button
