Hi again,

Though I know you don't do authentications here on the VFG, I was wondering if you could by any chance point me towards people (I've been thinking of contacting the V&A, for example, but was wondering if you might have other suggestions)who might be able to help me do just that/attribute a designer to the following three pieces of 60s/70s menswear, which are currently on their way to me.

They came from the same quite incredible collection (it included a few Mr. Fish pieces, for example).

I've included a couple of photos each, though hope to be able to get a couple of modelled shots once they've arrived.

I'd really appreciate your help, as though I have a suspicion that at least the beaded dress may be an unlabelled piece by the same designer as previously mentioned (it's structurally very similar to one of the ones Bowie was photographed in, a pale blue grey, zip up number), I haven't the best of ideas about how going about verifying it.

Kind regards,
Lily

Bumping to see if anyone may have some ideas of who to contact (hope this is allowed, if not, let me know and I'll delete this right away)?

Stumped - try Kerry Taylor, you have worked with her before -- the V&A would probably want labels and provenance, but they also don't have the time to help outside requests unless they are items being offered for donation.

Hi Jonathan, thanks ever so much for your reply and apologies for my own late one!
While the V&A have been pretty helpful before with a thing or two which I hadn't been considering for donation, Kerry Taylor probably would be the best person to approach first, not quite sure why I hadn't thought of her, in fact :)

Also, they finally arrived on Friday, so I've enclosed a few photos of the dress, which hopefully show the shape better. Hoping I'm not completely mad in thinking that it's structurally really similar to Bowie's one, worn as part of the shoot for his "The Man Who Sold the World" album (which was documented as being a Mr. Fish?

(Doesn't quite fit the model properly. It very much looks - fully hand-finished and beaded, also - as though it was custom made for someone.)

Kind regards,
Lily
