I picked up this hat for a few bucks. Im positive its real fur. the top is a red corduroy and it has gold sequins with a gold tassel. Im not sure if its a jewish or russian hat? or maybe turkish? It has no labels. Im assuming its vintage but not sure. Its lined in black satin and well made. Any help is appreciated

Hi,

Judging from only a photo is difficult sometimes, but I suspect the hat has been altered. It looks like a circa 1960s lady's fur hat, mink or mink dyed, which has been made into a costume hat. The sequins and tassel have been added, they are not original to the hat. I can't be sure on the red fabric, but that may also have been added. The interior looks as if the entire top of the hat has been changed. Someone made this into a costume for the stage, or for Halloween.

Hi there, Pretty hat. I defer to Barbara's dating on the hat as that is her specialty so she knows best on that. The fur type is muskrat that has been dyed to look like mink.
