Help with a Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Skirt

Hello everyone,

I just joined the VFG. I would really appreciate your help with a Saint Laurent skirt I recently purchased from a charity shop in New York. Only realized once I got home that the label reads "Made in USA" not France. I did some research online but was unable to find anything about the brand producing in the US.

Thanks in advance!
Anastasia

Claire, on the right side of the Rive Gauche label...
The Rive Gauche label also looks like it has been reattached, as the stitches do not look professional. What is the size on the label - is it a US or a European size? If it's a US size, maybe this then points at an item made for the US market? I don't know how they worked though. I have a silk Rive Gauche blouse with a similar label, but that is made in France.

Glad it wasn't a snake. I'll look at some skirts.

I know Dior had rtw made in the US. They had specific requirements for the manufacturer. It's possible YSL did also.

I agree that the label is a bit sloppily sewn. C

Thank you so much for your help! The size label is US 8...

The label stitching definitely looks odd but the thread seems to match the rest of the garment.

I have a early 70's safari jacket and it also has "made in usa" on label.
