I don't believe this has ever been worn. Label says Elka and I can't read the rest. I can't find anything on Elka though. It's made of a heavy pink cotton (similar to camp) with 11, reinforced boning/ stays. It has 10 hook & eyes down the left side.
The lacing is missing so I'd like to replace it. Is there is some place to get this from or is it acceptable to replace from a shoe repair? And also the length I would have to purchase - there are 18 grommets on each side.
Thank you

My first time to post, here comes my small contribution:

The label is in Dutch, it translates : "Elka, one should have more (than one)."
Sorry, can't help with age etc., just thought you might like to know...

hi, I'm going to say late 60's on this. There is a similar one on this site and they say late 60's http://www.corsetiere.net/Spirella/Technical.htm

I always thought these were "girdle corsets" because they sinch in the hips area.. while I am a collector/wearer of corsets, I am not an expert, I'm sure they'll be along soon. the site above just calls them corsets though.

If you are selling it, do not buy a shoe lace to replace the lacing. the laces are quite different than regular shoe laces. either find vintage lacing or leave off. I have found that this style /era doesn't bring in the dough that the earlier corsets do, so don't spend much on replacemets.

My best guess on this one is 50's. With the exception of materials used, I don't think the styles of these changed much from the 40's - 60's.

I wuold think that "68" is the size - but I don't know how that translates to US/UK sizing. Is it centimeters?
Make sure to measure it at the top, middle & bottom, fully closed. Also be sure to include the length.

It has an Art Deco-ey feel to it but I don't think it's 30's though. I think it's late 40's- 50's, probably styled for the older woman. Technically, these are corsets as they have lacing but with the hook n eyes, they would not have been used for heavy lacing but for medium support.

I often come across these without the original laces, sometimes i add original laces (I stock pile them) or a satin ribbon or sometimes i just sell them as is without the lace if I don't one that is long enough. It doesn't really matter whether if there is one or not as it doesn't seem to affect sales.

68 is the european size in centimetres.

Thank you every one. I will forget about the lacing. And it's good to know the 68 is centimeters.
I wish I ran into more of them! It's pretty dry here.
I was wondering where it was from and what it said. Thank you.
