Help with age & style of Hattie Carnegie Dress

Hi Everyone,
I found a beautiful dress at a Estate sale. :excited: I bought it thinking I could cut it up & make a outfit for the re enactment/ Gunfighter Plays I do. I started to take a good look at the dress & how it was made & :wow22: it was unbelievable. I've never seen anything like it. I then noticed a label" Hattie Carnegie". I thought I recognized the name from a couple pieces of jewelry I have. Needless to say NO scissors are touching the dress. Now I'm trying to find out the age & style of the dress. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I would love to have a dress form like my friends to display it on with one of my hats on top. I have some good pix but couldn't figure out how to post them on here. Please email me & I would be glad to send them to you.
Thanks for any info. Leisa
P.S. Please check my next 5 posts each one has a picture of the dress. It's the only way I could get pix to come up on this site.

Hi there,
You can add more photos one at a time by clicking the post reply button at top of your post and adding 1 per post. You can also use a photo hosting site such as photobucket. If you upload to photobucket then you just copy the img code for the pic and paste into your reply. You can add multiple pics to a post this way. If this isn't clear try searching the forums for pic instructions...I know there are multiple sets of really good instructions out there.

I am fairly sure everyone will want to see your dress and I think you might get more input if you can post photos. Congrats on your find.

The skirt looks like it is dipped at the front and back and slightly shorter at the sides to reveal a tulle underskirt? It also looks ankle length, which I think is more elegant than full length dresses. It is very similar to a dress I have that is positively dated as fall 1952; strapless top, slightly elongated waist with detailing at the bottom of the waist, ankle length... Your dress might have had a bolero jacket or shawl, or some cover-up that was worn with it, but not necessarily.

Thank You Msgrossmyer for you help with posting pix. I'm going to give it a try. Thank you too Jonathan for your info. I stayed up last night trying to get pix on here thrn finally got one to appear. Ugg! Wish me luck here I go again.

Sorry you have to look at all of these post to see all the pictures. I will try to figure out something better in the future.

Wow! Stunning! That is one fabulous find....

In the future, it's much easier to post multiple pictures from an online photo-hosting service. Just upload them to the hosting site, generate the IMG (image) codes, and copy and paste here in one post. No need to make several posts for several photos. I use photobucket (basic version is free), but there are other free hosting sites out there.
