Help with correct descriptive terms please.

This 80's St. John jacket is "over the top" with embellishments. I want to use the correct terms when describing it and was hoping for some help. :)
-The entire piece is covered in rectangular sequins? - or is there a better term here?
-Not sure what to call the bead work that's on top of the sequins?
-And then there is the metalic braid trim... (I think I have that correct -LOL)
Looking forward to reading your comments! -Alice

Thanks Mary Jane... "ribbon band of sequins" is a new term for me.
Would studs need to go all the way through the fabric? They are only attached to the outside of the fabric.

no, studs are prong set or have a rim that is crimped onto the fabric, the back is usually covered as the prongs are sharp otherwise. It's a good word to describe your decoration.

Would you call the sequins paillettes? Or paillette trim? I think of those big oval sequins with the hole at the top, but also shapes other than round. And I would call those studs too (even if they aren't studded :) Jennifer

Although St. John's have lost their popularity over the past few years, I occasionally find a very fun piece, like this one, but never one so heavily embellished. I appreciate everyone's help in helping me to describe it accurately. :drinkingtoast:

Paillettes = sequins...shoulda known that...also, did you know sequence = sequins too? According to some listings I have read anyway :). Jenn ps I'm begging you, if I call sequins 'sequence' PLEASE correct me!!
